I was browsing the internet for blogs related to company ties.Anyway, wear a tie like them or not, but they are some kind of social sign, and not just meant to make you look smart - that you take the interview seriously, that you know how to dress on such an occasion, as a sign of politeness towards the interviewers, etc. Wearing a tie certainly won't do any harm, but not wearing one might.
